BP

BP carried out a research project in its petrol stations which showed that customers are less likely to come back if EPOS transactions take longer than 7 seconds. The reasoning behind this was that any longer than 7 seconds resulted in queues building up quickly and customers becoming dissatisfied. With this in mind BP approached Sarian for an ISDN solution to crack the critical 7 second transaction mark.

SPAR

With over 2700 stores in the UK alone, SPAR UK handles a huge amount of electronic financial transactions each day. Stores traditionally used a PSTN phone line to authorise bank payments, in stores with more than one till this soon became costly and required one land line for each till, transactions also exceeded the critical 7 seconds barrier.
